I have a background in digital design with over 15 years of industry experience. As an advocate of user-centered design, I focus on a clean style by using the metrics and research-driven design approach to creating websites and apps. From owning and running a full service web design firm to working in large corporations, I bring a broad-based perspective to any team or project.
I come from a background of graphic designers and attended college at The Art Institute of Dallas. I started working in graphic design and multimedia for various studios in Austin, TX during the mid-nineties. About five years of my career has been spent creating illustrations and animations in the e-learning industry for a wide range of topics. As the web became more popular, I shifted my focus to website design and front end development. I founded and ran a full service, one-man, web design studio for ten years and sold it in 2011.
I recently left my position at Dun & Bradstreet (Hoover’s) where I managed a B2B lead generation program in the Digital Marketing department. My roles consisted of visual design, AB testing, user experience improvement, and reporting on lead funnel metrics. I currently office out of Capitol Factory where I take select consulting projects in user experience design and visual web design. I also started and continue to run a website for the outdoor community in Texas called TrekTexas.
In my spare time
When I’m not designing websites, I’m practicing photography, playing tennis, riding my bike, or enjoying music and art. I love being outdoors and exploring Texas parks and the hill country. Also, my team and I were division champions in Austin’s competitive skeeball league.
I’m all ears to people like Seth Godin, Jeffrey Zeldman, and the guys at 37signals. I’m inspired to work hard and play hard by people like Tim Ferris, Gary Vaynerchuk, and Mark Cuban. I love using tools like WordPress, Evernote, and Basecamp. I learn best practices published on sites like Smashing Magazine, A List Apart, and Nielsen Norman Group. I also participate in local communities like Dribbble Austin, Refresh Austin, and Lean User Experience Austin.
